\u201cWhy isn\u2019t it free to adopt?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The short answer is simple:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Because responsible adoption comes with real costs \u2014 and those costs are already heavily subsidised.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What does the adoption fee include?<\/mark><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Our adoption fee is R1100<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Without some contribution from adopters, we simply would not be able to continue caring for the thousands of animals<\/strong> that come through our doors each year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The SPCA does not profit from adoption fees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    In fact, the R1100 fee only covers a small portion<\/strong> of the actual cost of preparing an animal for adoption.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Every animal we care for requires:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    • Veterinary treatment<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Shelter and staffing<\/li>\n\n\n\n

      We rely on adoption fees and donations to keep our doors open.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
