Welcome to the Vereeniging & Vanderbijlpark SPCA adoption page — where second chances begin and lifelong bonds are made. Every animal in our care has a unique story, but they all share one hope: to find a loving, responsible home. By choosing to adopt, you not only change their life… you change yours too.

Here, you’ll meet dogs, cats, and other companion animals who are ready to become part of a family. Our dedicated team ensures that each animal is healthy, safe, and matched to the right home. Adoption is a commitment, and we’re here to guide you every step of the way.

Thank you for choosing compassion.
Your new best friend could be waiting just a scroll away.

Teeny tiny or gentle giant, energetic or super chilled, bouncy or sassy… we have stunning buddies of all sizes, ages and energy levels, ready to meet their perfect match and forever home.

Our Adoption Process

STEP 1 – view the animals currently up for adoption by visiting our Facebook page where we regularly post images and updates on the animals available for adoption. Try it now!

STEP 2 – visit our kennels to view the animal in person at either our Vereeniging or Vanderbijlpark branch. Visiting hours from 8:00 to 16:00 on Mondays to Fridays and 8:00 to 12:00 on Saturdays. We are closed on Sundays and Public Holidays.

STEP 3 – an adoption application will then be completed in person at either of our two branches. This assists us in finding a perfect match for you and your family. When completing an adoption application, we will require a copy of your identity document, proof of residence, and where applicable proof that pets are allowed.

STEP 4 – pay a non-refundable adoption deposit of R100, which is included in the total adoption fee.

STEP 5 – a home inspection will then be done prior to the completion of the adoption process.

STEP 6 – it is required that once your adoption is approved, a meet and greet is arranged with your family and current dogs.

STEP 7 – once your application is approved and the animal is ready to join their new family, you will be notified when you are able to collect. The remainder of the adoption fee will also be payable in full. You do not pay for the animal but rather for the expenses incurred by the SPCA, i.e. sterilisation, the first vaccination, de-worming, an ID disc and a microchip.

Please allow roughly 7 days for the adoption process to be completed.

Dogs: R1,100*
Adoption fees include sterilisation, the first vaccination, de-worming, an ID disc and a microchip.

Cats: R1,100*
Adoption fees include sterilisation, the first vaccination, de-worming, an ID disc and a microchip.

* Includes the R100 adoption deposit fee

You must be over 18 years of age to adopt.

Your property must be fully enclosed.

You must be able to afford the services of a private vet and have your own transport to take your pet to the vet.

Important:
If you reside in another SPCA’s jurisdiction then they will be responsible for conducting the home inspection and their rules will also apply.

For an easier transition, we highly recommend adopting a male dog if you already have a resident female dog.

If you have other pets (especially dogs), we request that you first bring them to the Vereeniging & Vanderbijlpark SPCA for a “meet & greet” with your new adopted pet.

Often we have no history on a dog, therefore if you have young children bring them to meet the animal.
